GA , the official title of my job, and i don't really know what it stands for. Actually my job is more known as TA - teaching assistant. The lab was not too big - but more than 10 stuents turned up and more than 80% of them are guys, which is perfectly fine for an engineering faculty.
What i did not expect was the sudden appearance of course coordinator - he was doing spot-check on me! Suddenly i felt a bit blank at the signt of him since he did not give me any feedback in the pre-report that i submitted to him earlier. Oh well, i have to go on.
Start with some background concepts and i started to feel my lips very dry - however the faces of my "students" still look so puzzling. Did they get me?? I was not sure at all - kept trying my best to explain what the students have not learnt in the lecture.
"now please come to the workstation and let's observe the hardware". (i hope it works - in my heart i was praying) and Yeh it did! Just turned on the power and the reading started to show nicely. "Now you can observe that...blah blah blah..." Was i talking too fast or too long-wided? I am not sure, either. but i am sure that my face might have turned quite pink.
"Now you can go to your workstation and start the experiment, anything feel free to ask me". Phew! That wat it! My first opening address ended for a "teaching assistant" job. Student followed the instructions tentatively and some were even recording down the notes i scribbled on the white board, which greatly satisfied my vanity...
long 3.5 hours was gone filled with explanation, more experiments and more explanation...finally i don't see more hands up for questions and it is time for the end to come. Yes i have been longing for it -with a dry throat and nervous heart...and here comes the lab officer's comment down pouring onto my head - "How come your session is so slow today??"
oh well - i have nothing to say, i tried my best, i explained what i can, i tried to stimulate the thinking, and i tried to be a more patient person than i normally is...
I am so tired.
